Why Alabama?

Nicknamed The Heart of Dixie, Alabama calls to mind delicious barbeque, sweet tea, and gospel music. The civil rights movement was born here, and because of this, cities like Birmingham and Montgomery offer a plethora of historic memorials and landmarks. It’s a state rich in culture and history. Other attractions include NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and nearby U.S. Space and Rocket Center, the world’s largest spaceflight museum, both in Huntsville. Or take a self-guided tour of the USS Alabama, a battleship that was decommissioned after World War II and is docked in Spanish Fort’s Memorial Park. If you prefer outdoor adventures, Alabama’s Talladega National Forrest offers nearly 400,000 acres of land, not to mention Alabama’s approximately 20 state parks where you can go ziplining, explore caves and waterfalls, golf, camp, fish, or bike. The temperate, subtropical climate makes it possible to enjoy the outdoors year-round, with an average temperature of 64 degrees. With the Appalachian Mountains in the northeast and sandy beaches along the southern Gulf coastline, there’s geography to fit whatever your preference may be.
