Why Delaware?
Delaware is well known for its history and beaches, but it’s also great for its outdoor scene. Primarily coastal plain, Delaware is mostly flat, but not without character. Forests, salt marshes, sandy beaches, rivers, creeks, and some hilly plains make up the topographic scene of the state. The 17 state parks in Delaware offer so many great activities, like hiking, biking, fishing, jet skiing, camping, and some winter-sports when it snows—plenty to do for those outdoorsy people. Some of the most popular parks are Cape Henlopen State Park, Brandywine Creek State Park, and Delaware Seashore State Park. Not all of the coast is state parks, with some popular beach spots like Rehoboth Beach. This charming city is home to a boardwalk full of shopping, hotels, attractions (like the amusement park ”Funland Rehoboth”), and food options, with the sandy shoreline of Delaware mere feet away. Rehoboth Beach is just one example of the great beach scene that Delaware has to offer.

Delaware, known as “The First State,” also has a lot to offer history buffs, with great attractions like DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum, the Air Mobility Command Museum, and Fort Delaware State Park. Fort Delaware even takes guests through the motions of what life as a civil war soldier may have been like, gives a cannon-firing demonstration, and, in October, offers paranormal tours to those brave enough to try. Fans of beautiful architecture, books, and gardens can spend days walking the halls and gardens of places like Hagley Museum, Nemours Estate, and Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library. For city-lovers, Delaware offers the lure of fast-paced city life in its most populous city, Wilmington. Quaint and idyllic small towns, like Dover, the state’s capital, and Lewes, are also fantastic places to experience the culture that Delaware offers. Delaware experiences warm and sunny summers, sometimes reaching temperatures in the 90s, and mild winters, around 30-40 degrees typically, with some snow. Delaware truly has something to offer to everyone looking for a home during their college years!
