Why New Mexico?

New Mexico has been nicknamed “Land of Enchantment.” Geographically it is a diverse state with everything from deep canyons to dry deserts, from plains and plateaus to tall, rugged, mountains. Its climate is diverse, as well, which allows you to experience four distinct seasons and more sunshine than almost any other state! There’s downhill skiing in the winter and white-water rafting, hiking, and mountain biking in the warmer months. Some of the coolest places to explore include Carlsbad Caverns National Park where you can tour 120 known caves, and White Sand Dunes National Park, where you can climb, explore, and even sled down 60-foot dunes composed entirely of sand. If you’re into history, the state is replete with petroglyphs, battlefields from the civil-war era, cliff dwellings of ancestral people, and Native American ruins. And if you’re more interested in the delving into art, culture, shopping, and amazing Mexican cuisine, you’ll have no trouble finding plenty of it in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Santa Fe and Rio Rancho--the largest cities in New Mexico. Each year Albuquerque hosts a huge hot air balloon festival that draws approximately 80,000 spectators!
