Why North Dakota?
North Dakota is full of cultural heritage, peaceful surroundings, and beautiful parks. Once inhabited by tribes of American Indians, North Dakota’s heritage is proudly on display at several informative sites and parks, like the Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site. Here, visitors can come and see artifacts, learn about the tribes, and explore the remains of three of the village sites. North Dakota is also home to several forts, such as Fort Stevenson State Park and Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, which is great for history buffs who want a little insight into what the lives of frontier soldiers was like. The International Peace Gardens, nestled on the border of North Dakota and Canada, were created in celebration of the peaceful relationship between the U.S. and Canada.

North Dakota: More to Explore
For fans of long walks surrounded by the smell of roses and bright-colored flowers, this is the perfect location. North Dakota is home to 13 State Parks and 5 National Parks, offering a variety of scenery including forests, lakes, rivers, cliffs, rolling hills, and grassy prairies. Outdoorsy people will find an abundance of activities to indulge in like hiking, backpacking, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, and so much more. Another special location in North Dakota is the Enchanted Highway, which stretches 32 miles and has a giant sculpture every few miles. Various sculptures include giant grasshoppers, a giant tin family, and some giant deer. Better still? The drive is completely free (aside from gas). North Dakota is the fourth least populous and fourth most sparsely populated, so it’s not a great location for big city lovers, with Fargo being its only “large” city. That said, there are lots of fun things to do in Fargo, with museums, performing arts centers, shopping, and more. Being as far north as it is, North Dakota is characterized by long, very cold, and snowy winters, and warm, usually dry summers. North Dakota has so much to offer that you’ll never be bored with all your options.
